Plant Tussilago farfara, family Compositae.
The solitary yellow flowerheads have many
narrow rays and the stems have large purplish
scales. The large leaf, up to 22 cm/9 in
across, is shaped like a horse's foot and
gives the plant its common name. Coltsfoot
grows in Europe, N Asia and N Africa, often
on bare ground and in waste places.
